The patch should be placed on upper body once a day. Depending on which product is used, it may be removed before sleeping and replaced on waking or it remains on the body for 24 hours, and then replaced.
Each patch type has a different strength. With each, patients are put on a tapering schedule to meet individual needs. Individualized treatment should be based on specific characteristics such as previous experience with the patch, amount of cigarettes smoked, degree of addictedness, etc. For detailed dosing information, consult the Physician’s Desk Reference or the package insert.
