Smoking Cessation Approaches & Options

Give a clear, unambiguous message to quit.

Personalize with health information about the smoker.

Mention that alcohol can lead to relapse and of the need to avoid smokers in the beginning.

There are some special issues for teen girls and women trying to quit:

  • fear of gaining weight
  • stress
  • fear of past failures at trying to quit
  • need for something to take the place of smoking
  • fear of losing friends who smoke
  • other smokers in home
  • caring for others first, then themselves
