Ask patients at every visit about their smoking and record as a vital statistic.
Ask patients about their smoking history: age at which they began to smoke, how much they smoke, do they smoke now and did they smoke in the past.
Ask all patients about their exposure to second-hand smoke as a child as well as an adult, at home and in the work environment.
