It is important to emphasize to teens the dangers to their lives and health that smoking poses.
Teens need to know that tobacco is an addictive drug, more addictive than heroine or cocaine.
Teens need to know that they are at greater risk for developing smoking-related diseases if they start smoking that adults are.
Even if they understand and accept the risks associated with smoking, teens made need additional motivation to not smoke or to stop smoking to counter the pressures to smoke. Rewards, such as improved physical fitness and health and saving money are two positive motivators. |
